I bought the Jaime xx album We're New Here on which he remixes the whole of Gil Scott-Heron's I'm New Here album. I bought it as a slight recommendation for my brother for Christmas as I'd heard a lot of the tracks but I did also fancy having a sneaky copy of it on my laptop - this I know would not offend my brother, it's tradition, he buys a CD for me, and has listened to it at least twenty times before it reaches my CD player and visa versus.
So anyway as I was saying... yeah, I haven't been able to stop listening to the whole thing, and I'm deadly eager to buy the actual I'm New Here album, Gil's voice is a modest classic type, who am I to describe but that's how it hits me. The combination of Jaime's tricks which touch upon sounds that take me back to Dizzy Rascal's Boy In The Corner, back almost ten years, to that British garage sound which I sorely miss delving into.
That's enough drivel, my darling nephew has come to say hello.
